Bio’s
Dr Schalk du Plessis
Schalk qualified in 1986 at the University of Stellenbosch. He practiced in Cape Town for 7 years before moving to the UK in 1993. He worked as an associate for 5 years before coming to The Croft Dental Centre where he has worked for 12 years. Schalks special interests are computerised dentistry and implantology.
Dr Werner Kröhn
Werner graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1998 and has over 11 years of experience in general dental practice. He has worked for The Croft Dental Centre for the past 2 years and is enjoying building valued relationships with his patients. He is committed to high quality care through post graduate training, with an emphasis on cosmetic care. In 2007 he qualified as a “clear-step”™ clear braces practitioner. He also has undergone training in smile makeovers from Dr Larry Rosenthal and Derry Rogers to name a few. In April 2010 he will complete his implant course by Nobel-biocare in Cambridge. In his spare time he enjoys singing, sports and fine dining.
Kelly Calder
Kelly has been a dental nurse for 3 years and been employed at The Croft Dental Centre for 2. She is currently studying for her National Certificate to become a qualified dental nurse and will sit her exam later this year. Previously Kelly worked in childcare and holds an NVQ certificate. She decided to change her career to work in dentistry as she enjoys the medical aspect of her job. She enjoys assisting in implants and surgical treatments and would like to aspire to work within a surgical setting. Kelly enjoys chatting to patients and the friendly team here at The Croft, who keep her coming back to work with a smile every day! Kelly’s hobbies include singing, shopping and travelling.
Denise Mansbridge
Denise originated from South Africa to Portuguese parents. She has been trained and employed as a Personal Assistant in the past but has a keen interest in dentistry. Denise is the centres new receptionist. She has worked at The Croft Dental Centre since January 2010 and thoroughly enjoys her new venture. Her favourite part of her role is the people, meeting new and interesting ones everyday whilst benefitting from working with first-class colleagues. Denise would like to go on and take the National Certificate one day and become a qualified dental nurse. Her hobbies include playing the accordion and piano, arts and crafts and spending time with friends and family.
Dr Nicholas Antonopoulos
Nicholas graduated from the University of Timisoara in 2001 and has been providing gentle care for his patients through professionalism and understanding. He has a special interest in aesthetic dentistry having helped many patients regain and enhance their smile. Nicholas is a firm believer in continuing education and lifelong professional development and remains on the path of learning and applying the secrets of a beautiful smile. Well known and established specialists from Europe and the United States have guided him on his path and he owes gratitude to them as the wonderful results greatly reflect on his patients. He thrives in a stress free and relaxed environment, transforming the dental experience into a positive one. Nicholas enjoys reading, going to the cinema and having long conversations with people that can appreciate a sense of humour.
