Traditional Crowns
If your dentist is using the traditional method they will use a soft mouldable material to make an exact “impression” of the tooth that is to be crowned and the nearby teeth. The impression is the sent to one of our dental technicians who use this to make the crown the exact height and size needed.
A thin cord may be used to hold the gum away from the tooth so that the impression is accurate round the edges.
Your dentist will provide you with a temporary crown until the permanent restoration is made. This takes approximately 2 weeks. You will need at least 2 visits.
Once the fit and appearance of the crown has been checked it is cemented in place with dental cement, this holds the crown firmly in place.
